Steven Jackson - RB - Rams Jackson to be the Rams' Westbrook
That makes sense considering new Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur was a longtime Eagles offensive assistant. Jackson will be a big threat in the passing game, even lining up in the slot and out wide at times. If healthy, he'll be among the league leaders in touches and set a career high for carries. Hard to be a 1st round sleeper, but SJax could be a top-3 performer this year. That coach will not let them throw the ball all over the field.

If only they had an offensive line that could open running holes or protect the quarterback... I don't care how often he will be used... he still won't be a top tier RB with that O line.

I agree with fairwarning. Jackson should end up top 3 at RB, especially in PPR leagues. I'm worried about the O-line but the Rams are going to build their offense around this guy. He gets the receptions, the ball at the goal line and there is no other back stealing his carries. If he stays healthy, he will put up huge fantasy numbers, in my opinion.

His ranking drops a little in non points-per-reception leagues. His new offensive coordinator came over from the Eagles and plans to use him a lot like Westbrooke.

You may be right, Jake. That o-line looked really bad against the Seahawks. Bulger got killed.

The Rams are blaming it on having young receivers, but the problem is Marc Bulger. Jackson will receive extra defensive attention all season, so it's important for the Rams to involve him in the passing game.

This is bad news. While coach Steve Spagnuolo indicated that S-Jax could face Seattle without any practice reps, he's waiting for pre-game warmups to decide his workhorse's availability. "I think he’s been in the league long enough that he knows he doesn’t want to hurt the team," Spags said. This is another 1PM ET game, so Jackson's status will be known around 12ET.

Steven Jackson - RB - Rams Steven Jackson admitted his back was still bothering him even after Sunday's loss to the Seahawks.
Jackson wasn't close to 100 percent yesterday, but still gutted out 116 yards and a touchdown on 28 touches. He'll likely miss some more practice time this week but should be a go for the Week 13 matchup with the Bears. November 30

Steven Jackson - RB - Rams Steven Jackson (back) missed practice again Thursday.
S-Jax, who did participate in a jog-through Thursday, is aiming for a limited practice Friday. He insists that he'll be fine for Sunday's game at Chicago. He went through a similar routine last week, and he's yet to miss a game all year. We have ranked as the No. 5 fantasy RB this week. December 3

The missed practices date back to Week 12. Coach Steve Spagnuolo said S-Jax's back "just hasn't calmed down to where we want it, and we certainly don’t want to reaggravate it." Jackson will be a game-time decision for the second straight week. He was able to play through the back spasms and pile up 116 yards with a touchdown last week, but we won't know his status for sure until Sunday at around 12PM ET. The Rams are visiting Chicago.

Steven Jackson - RB - Rams
NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Rams expect Steven Jackson (back) to play on Sunday in Chicago.
The Rams are "hopeful" and will test S-Jax in warmups to see if his back can get loose in the frigid Chicago weather. Jackson missed all of practice this week, but he missed all of last week too before playing against the Seahawks. If he starts, he should be in your fantasy lineups as well. December 6

Jackson is listed as questionable for Week 15.
Spags wouldn't confirm if S-Jax caught the swine flu that forced St. Louis to cancel all of its Thursday practice drills, but Jackson's chances of playing Sunday just took a big hit. Starting QB Kyle Boller definitely has H1N1, and No. 2 wideout Brandon Gibson missed Friday's practice with an "illness." It's hard to imagine the Rams moving the ball successfully against Houston.

Jackson experienced new symptoms leading up to Sunday's game against the Cardinals, and was inactive for the first time all season. He said that playing on the injured back doesn't make it worse, but he felt like he would have hurt the team by suiting up. Jackson's back won't fully heal until he rests it in the offseason, but if he's active in Week 17 you have to start him.

S-Jax was a surprise scratch last week after he experienced new symptoms related to his herinated disk. He says he can't do any more damage to his back and wants to gut it out as long as he's not hurting his team. He probably won't practice this week and the good news is we'll know early if Jackson is playing. The Rams play at 1 ET.
